1. How does ShoppingBoss work? Simple – you just shop like you always have at participating merchants, and when it’s time to pay, instead of giving your credit card to the cashier (or food server), you use your smartphone to buy the merchant’s digital gift card through Shopping Boss. It’s delivered to you instantly, and you use that for the purchase, getting up to 9% cash back. Click here for a list of merchants.

2. That sounds simple – what’s the catch? There is no catch. We do, however, impose quarterly purchase limits according to the Membership Terms and Conditions. For more information on specific limits, please contact customer service
3. Can I still use my cash back credit card to make digital gift card purchases? Yes! Using your cash back credit card is a smart way to earn additional cash back on your everyday purchases.
4. Can I use coupons, buy sale items, AND earn cash back through ShoppingBoss? Yes! Smart shoppers maximize coupon and store sales first, and then use ShoppingBoss to earn cash back on their discounted checkout price.
5. How do I store additional payment methods in ShoppingBoss? You can have multiple credit cards on file for making digital gift card purchases. These are added to your account in the Profile section of the site or by making a purchase with the new card during checkout and selecting the box to save it for later.  You can also “nickname” your cards for easy reference when making purchases.
6. Help! I’m having trouble logging in. If you recently joined ShoppingBoss, make sure you have activated your account prior to login by entering the activation code texted to you during registration or clicking on the personalized link in your activation email. If you have any difficulty, simply email us at support@shoppingboss.com and we will be happy to help! If your account is activated and you are still having problems, you can request a password reset. Reset requests will come in the form of an email.

7. Why do I have to enter a credit card when I’ve already paid for the whole year through my donation? Cash back is earned when digital gift cards are purchased from any of our participating merchant partners. Credit card information is securely stored in your account profile to make purchases of digital gift cards easy and fast. You may be at a store register or in a restaurant when you want to buy, so we don’t want you to have to enter credit card information to finalize transactions. Having a credit card stored makes the process and user experience quite simple.
8. Why is there a pending charge on my account when my membership is free? To prevent fraud and unauthorized use of consumer credit information, we authorize all payment methods added to your ShoppingBoss membership account. This pre-authorization is not a charge and will drop off your account according to your banks processing policies. This nominal authorization ensures that your card belongs to you, and is accurate to make your purchases quick and easy.
9. Isn’t this just like Ebates? No, not at all. With ShoppingBoss, you earn cash in stores AND online. Cash back can also be earned at 100’s of restaurants across the country with ShoppingBoss. ShoppingBoss cash back earned is instant, not deposited quarterly. And cash back earned can be used for your next purchase with ShoppingBoss easily at checkout. But best of all, ShoppingBoss can be used in conjunction with Ebates! So if you are an Ebates user, continue to earn cash back through Ebates, but when it comes time to pay for your online purchase, use a ShoppingBoss digital gift card to pay. Let’s say you buy online at Nike through Ebates. Pay at checkout with ShoppingBoss. You’ll earn 7% from Ebates and 9% from ShoppingBoss (16%) on your purchase!

10. My invitation code is invalid! Once you register your code, it is no longer valid for use. You will access the site by signing in with your username and password. There can be occasions where a lower case “l” is confused with the number “1” or similar situations.  If your invitation code is coming back as invalid, please just email support@shoppingboss.com with your invitation code and the fundraiser you are supporting so that we can verify your code.
11. Is my information safe? Absolutely! ShoppingBoss is fully PCI 1 compliant, the highest level security standard in the United States. Our systems are audited and certified four times a year for compliance and certification. And we will never share or sell your information to a third party either!
1. What is a digital gift card? A digital gift card is exactly what you think it is: it’s a gift card from the merchant delivered to you instantly. And you can spend it right away. If you prefer, you can think of it as “instant digital cash”, a “merchant specific e-cash code” or similar.
2. How are you able to provide this cash back? ShoppingBoss partners with merchants and organizations interested in giving back by providing value for schools and non-profits.
3. About this “cash back” – how does that work? ShoppingBoss offers members a specific percentage of cash back on all instant digital gift card purchases. This cash back is automatically deposited into your ShoppingBoss Account, and ready for immediate use. For example, you go to Merchant A, who offers 9% cash back. You spend $100, buy an instant $100 gift card at checkout, and pay with that. You now have $9 in your ShoppingBoss account. The next time you use ShoppingBoss (on your way home for dinner, perhaps), you have the option to put your ShoppingBoss balance towards your next digital gift card purchase. If you use it, great – your next digital gift card costs you $9 less (note – when buying that second digital gift card at a second ShoppingBoss partner, you still get the “cash back” percentage on the full amount). If you wish to “build up” your balance and have us send you a check periodically, that’s fine too. You must have $5.00 or more in available cash to apply your cash back to a gift card purchase. Further, you must have $25.00 available to request a check or a $5.00 processing fee will apply.
4. Why would retailers and restaurants do this? Because we give back! ShoppingBoss members either get ShoppingBoss through an affiliation with a non-profit charity or a school fundraiser. In both cases, ShoppingBoss donates directly to the cause through help from our merchant partners.
5. What if I don’t know how much my total will be? For example, I’m at a clothing store, I have a cart full of items, and I don’t want to spend time at the register buying the digital gift card. To begin, delivery is nearly instantaneous – you can get the exact amount digital gift card in about the same time it takes you to write and enter a check. But ok, to directly answer the question, you can “estimate” how much your purchase is and buy a digital gift card you think will suffice. If your total is over the gift card amount, make up the difference with your credit card. If it’s under, you can redeem the unused portion next time you are there. Either way, you still get the percentage back on the amount of the digital gift card you purchased.
6. I have a “cash back” credit card. Can I use that with ShoppingBoss? Absolutely! In fact, that’s a very smart use of such. Let’s say your credit card pays you 2% cash back on all purchases. ShoppingBoss gives you 6% cash back on Overstock.com. Buy your Overstock.com digital gift card from ShoppingBoss with your credit card and you’ve just earned 8% cash back on your purchase.
7. Are the digital gift cards issued directly from the merchant? Yes. Our digital gift cards are issued directly from the merchant. We do not re-market “used” or previously sold gift cards. This ensures your digital gift card purchase is secure.
8. Can I pay for my restaurant bill with a digital gift card? Indeed you can. Our most savvy customers order an “exact amount” digital gift card from the restaurant table after receiving the bill from the server. Just jot the digital code number on the check and hand it back to the server to pay for your meal (and tip). And Viola’ – you’ve just earned cash back on dinner!
9. Do I need to buy fixed denomination digital gift cards? Typically, no, you do not. Many of our digital gift card merchants allow you to choose the exact value of the gift card you are purchasing. Is your bill for the family’s dinner at Chili’s $82.47 after tip? Order a Chili’s digital gift card for $82.47 before the server collects your bill and use it to pay. You’ve just earned $4.95 cash back!
10. Can I use them to pay my credit card bill or buy plastic gift cards? No. Please check with your credit card issuer to determine what they consider to be a valid form of payment, but in general digital gift cards can only be used on the purchase of merchandise. Most merchants will not allow you to use a digital gift card to purchase plastic gift cards. So you are not able to purchase a CVS digital gift card and then purchase plastic gift cards in the store. There are other situations where brands will not allow you to use their digital gift cards for certain purchases – please check with the merchant first if you are unsure if you are able to use a digital gift card for your intended purchase.
11. Can I check the balance on my digital gift card? Yes! Go to your Wallet and press the “check balance” button next to any digital gift card and the current balance will appear. Be aware, some merchants do not support real time balance checks. In those merchant cases, there will not be a check balance button available on the ShoppingBoss site. For these instances, try going directly to the merchant website and look for a “check gift card balance” function. Balance check information is sometimes provided on the digital gift card itself as well.
